Film Days

The aim of the Film Days Wissen.Schafft.Entwicklung. is to impart development related issues that are currently of growing global relevance - namely for people in industrialized countries as well as for people in poorer regions.

Filmtage 2017 - "Wissen.Schafft.Entwicklung."

im Rahmen des this human world-Festivals

Wie auch schon 2016, führte man dieses Jahr die Kooperation fort und bettete die Filmtage "Wissen.Schafft.

Film Days 2016 - "Wissen.Schafft.Entwicklung."

in cooperation with the 8th centralamerican film festival and the this human world festival

This year the film days "Wissen.Schafft.Entwicklung." presented themselves in a new guise. "Cooperation" was the motto and therefore they were embedded in two established festivals, the VIIIth Central American Film Festival and the this human world Festival. This is why there has been no superordinate thematic motto this year but instead of this there have been two regional focuses – Central America and East Africa.

Five films on two days in two very well frequented cinemas, accompanied by lively presentations and discussions, music and cocktails – the Commission for Development Research (KEF) and APPEAR’s fifth film days were a great success.

Film Days 2015 - „Stadt.Land.Wandel.“

This year’s topic Stadt.Land.Wandel. (Urban and rural areas in change) explores many facets of the topic of "cities and towns" in change. The film days take place from November 24th to 26th, 2015 (Tuesday to Thursday). The organisers approach the topic of urbanisation by means of films (feature films, documentary films), project presentations and discussions.

Film Days 2014 - „Eat.Drink.Live.“

The third film days, "Eat.Drink.Live.", focus on questions related to climate change, health and agricultural ecology. The development policy knowledge transfer happens via the medium of film, discussion events and the broad field of art – without losing track of the thematic focus area.

Film Days 2013 - „Stadt.Land.Flucht.“

The second film days "STADT.LAND.FLUCHT." (Urban and rural exodus) focus on urbanisation, the migration movements from the countryside to the big cities, megacities, with all the resulting problems. Another aspect that we like to include in our event is the development of the “gated communities”. The development policy knowledge transfer happens via the medium of film, discussion events and the broad field of art – without losing track of the thematic focus area.

Film Days 2012 - "Wasser"

With feature films and documentary films, experts and artists we approached the elixir of life, water. We presented water projects in Burkina Faso and East Timor, looked behind the scenes of the Commission for Development Studies, and presented the Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education and Research for Development – APPEAR, which supports partnerships between university institutions in Austria and university institutions in priority regions of the Austrian Development Cooperation.
